Types of Intermittent Fasting for Weight Loss
One of the popular weight loss programs today is called intermittent fasting. There are many reasons why people fast. Before, people fast so that the can pray and do spiritual activities without distraction but today, fasting is also done for reducing the waistline and improving metabolic health.
If you do intermittent fasting, then you can cut back on your meals that helps reduce your calorie intake. Below are the different types of intermittent fasting that you can do to help you lose weight.
One type of intermittent fasting that you can try is the 5:2diet. In this type of fasting, you eat normally for five days and fast the other two days. If it sounds unbearable not eating for two days to you, then you don’t have to do a full fast. If you don’t do a full fast, then you can take in as little as 500 to 600 calories on these days.
Another type of intermittent fasting is the 16/8 method which involves eating for certain hours and fasting on the remaining hours. In this method, you fast for 16 hours and eat for 8 hours.
You can also do the intermittent fasting every other day. If you can’t follow the fasting for certain hours of the day only, then fast for a whole day, then eat the next day then fast again the next, and so on and so forth. This method should not be done by beginners. Again, if it is difficult for you to go without food for a whole day, then you should limit yourself to eating only 500 calories a day on fasting days.
One or twice a week fasting is also good. This is good for beginners and is an easier version of the previous method. Here you only need to fast once or twice a week and not every other day, in other words, three or four times a week. So if you don’t want to fast a whole day, you can simply skip meals several times a week. Those who use this method usually skip dinner three or four days a week.
A final type of intermittent fasting is fasting during the day and eating at night. This method is called the warrior diet. Here the fasting is done during the day. The paleo movement popularized this method because they believed that this is how our ancestors ate. Taking small amounts of fruits and vegetables during the day can replace full fasting in the morning.
Intermitent fasting is becoming very popular indeed. Just choose the best method for you since every one of all dieting levels can use one method that will fit their lifestyle.
